Fall at the Mountain
Itinerary Suggested Season: Fall
Morning: Wake up for a day of experiences on your Mount Rainier National Park excursion. Make your way to the lobby at Fairfield Inn and Suites Puyallup and enjoy their complimentary hot breakfast buffet before you head out to the Mountain.
Before entering Mount Rainier National Park pay a visit to Mount Rainier Railroad in the historic train depot town of Elbe, WA. This historic locomotive will take you back in time when trains were the primary mode of transportation. Absorb the sounds and take in the sights of the foothills of Mount Rainier.
Afternoon: As you make your way to the Nisqually entrance of Mount Rainier National Park, stop at Copper Creek Inn for lunch. Enjoy old-fashioned cooking in this quaint mountain-town restaurant. Make sure you save room for their legendary homemade blackberry pie.
After lunch head up to Paradise at an elevation of 5,400 feet above sea level. Take advantage of the numerous hiking trails such as the Skyline Trail, one of the best autumn hikes at Paradise! Fall is one of the best times of the year to visit Mount Rainier National Park to experience the changes in colors and seasons. Before leaving, make sure to visit the new Henry M. Jackson Memorial Visitor Center for a souvenir or snack for the road.
As you begin making your way back to Puyallup for the evening, make one quick stop at Whittaker Mountaineering for any last minute Mount Rainier National Park mementos you may want to take home.
Evening: After a long, action-packed day at Mount Rainier National Park it’s time to get your grub on at a local Puyallup favorite, Ayothaya. Split a couple of entrees to get a good taste of different Thai cuisines. Head back the Fairfield Inn for a well-deserved night's rest.
